Call the Experts If You Have a Sewer Backup

In this age of DIY (Do It Yourself), many people try to take on major repair projects at their homes themselves.  This may work for paint and minor repair projects, but sometimes our customers don't realize which situations can pose serious health risks to themselves and their families and try to take care of some problems they should call in an expert for. 

This is the case when you have a sewer backup problem.  Water from a sewer system backup should be considered very dangerous.  The water is extremely unsanitary and may contain bacteria and viruses that could cause serious illness.  Special training and equipment is necessary to safely clean this type of contamination.

If you home or business should experience a sewer system backup, remember these tips:

1. Stay out of the affected area.
2. Call emergency service personnel if the situation is life-threatening.
3. Treat ALL bodily fluids as if they are contaminated.
4. Turn off the HVAC system if there is sewage damage.
